No one should miss this movie !!!

Moving on... to new House !
I have been feeling nostalgic for quite sometime.. especially after I have given the advance amount for the new house at Valasarawakkam (4 kms from my current house)..
Have been staying in the current house since I shifted to Chennai from Bangalore.. that is for past 2.5 years.. In Aug 2005, after getting penalised by many house owners for me being a bachelor, this house owner finally agreed to let me stay in his house..
Have had both good and bad experiences living in this house.. with in a week of shifting to this house, I was caught by police for jumping over the compound wall aroung 12 midnight.. :-). then got my right knee broken in a accident inside my office.. Moved inside the house - 20 feet length with the sticks for few weeks.. soon after the recovery I went on to complete my CCNA exam as I had planned earlier... a sense of achievement as this was the first (infact the last too) certification exam I had given..
I had enrolled for MS program in BITS, Pilani.. completed the three semesters of theory exams, hardly studying.. Got my own bike and met with a accident within a year to get injured in my hand.. since my childhood days, I don't remember getting hurt in my hand or leg so badly.. all new "experiences" for me.. lucklily I recovered well after all such incidents..
There were few days of loneliness.. had ended up to talking to myself... questioning myself about what I had been doing and what i had planned to do.. finally realised the ill-effects being lonely for a longer time.. Ofcourse there were times with my my friends visiting me, chatting with them and dear ones for long time..
In the coming days, I will definitely miss Nisha, my neighbourhood friend who sends flying kisses everyday when I leave for office... so naughty, fun-loving girl... I love to be with her after I come back from office... we use to play/listen songs together.. I will happily kill my time in her presence.. she is just 2+ years... :-)
By now, I had prepared myself to face surprises... Learnt to accept changes and more importantly to adapt myself to the situation/location.. Need to keep moving on in life..
Will be shifting to the new house in few days time... its bigger with two bedrooms and a hall.. my brother can find someplace to place a TV which he has been waiting for quite sometime.. my mom can find a pooja room to offer her prayers, read devotional songs.. And I can find a room for myself to sit and blog in the net.. ;-)
And there is a Murugan temple very next to the house for me to enjoy the divine proximity..
Eagerly looking forward to have better days & welcome surprises there... :-)

On the New Year Day.....
This new year day on 1st Jan 2007 turned out to be different from the ones in tha past. The new year days had always remained as holidays so far. This time it was termed as "Restricted Holiday" by my Employer.
Since I took "off" on the previous friday, I did n't want to prolong the weekend; decided to go to
office on 1st Jan 2007...
It was a pleasant morning marked by phone calls and SMS messages from my friends and relatives wishing me a happy new year...
The office space wore a deserted look with very few turning up for work.. Obviously the "holiday" mood was there in the air and no body seemed to be interested ro work. Just left the office early by 5 pm itself.
Came home and took my mom to Vadapalani Murugan temple as I had promised her earlier. It was a long queue... Normally it takes hardly 15 mins to complete the "dharsan"....that day we were in queue in more than an hour...
While standing in queue, got to observe people around me... (didn't have any other choice)....
Few people kept talking loudly on their mobile phones...
Some were busy SMSing...
Few others were found lost in their thoughts...
Some kept chatting, teasing & making fun of each other...
Some others are trying to "bypass" the queue with their "intelligence" taking advantage of the gaps here and there...
Started asking myself what for we go to temple.... to realise peace of mind, to offer our prayers, to seek divine forgiving for all the mistakes we commit unconsiously... to seek strength to face the life's challenges.. to thank GOD..
But what happens with few people is the contrary.. Some come to temple just for the sake of coming there.. completely forgetting to realise the sanity of the place...
If we are not self-disciplined even at the place of worship, where else we are going to be !!!!
It was more disgusting to see some people who violate the queues thinking they were more intelligent than others... To whom are they proving their intelligence ?... to the GOD ???.

Ill-treated ... Still....
I am often left wondering why people get in to a relationship no matter how bad they are being treated in that relationship. I find it hard to understand why we often do what the other wants even though we know we are giving up everything we want and our happiness. Quite funnily we end up cursing everyone close to us including our family and friends when they try to help.
Just sometime back, sanity remained the way of thinking. Soon when we get in to a relationship (close friendship ?), things suddenly become so wonderful for us. Then come the fights which become more regular and sillier and it leads to stupidity revealing itself.
And when we fight, it takes two people to compromise. But when you start to change major things about yourself without the other changing, then it becomes a habit. Soon all the other will expect from you is change. You can nolonger be yourself.
Eventually for most of us, changing becomes so easy that we have started to believe that we do everything in the name of love/friendship and nothing that anyone says would change the person we have become. In the end it will only cause us to loose everyone who really cares for us.
It is time to realise that there are so many around you, who do not ask you to change simply because you are perfect the way you are.

Ethics - Means ?
Ethics - What does it mean ?
As per http://m-w.com/dictionary/ethics
2 a : a set of moral principles : a theory or system of moral values : the principles of conduct governing an individual or a groupc : a guiding philosophy d : a consciousness of moral importance 3 plural : a set of moral issues or aspects (as rightness)
Stephen Covey talks about two broad categories of ethics; Character Ethics and Personailty Ethics.
The character Ethics taught that there are basic principles of effective living and the people can experience only true success and enduring happiness as they learn and integrate these principles in their basic character.
As per the personality ethic, success became more as a function of personality, of public image, of attitudes and behaviours, skills and techniques, that lubricate the processes of Human Interaction. The personality approach is clearly manipulative, even deceptive, encouraging people to use "techniqueues" to get other people to like them or to fake interest in others to get out of them what they wanted or to use the "power look" or to use intimidate their way through life.
If one tries to use Human influence strategies and tactics of how to get other people to do what he/she wants, to work better, to be more motivated , to like him/her and eachother - while his/her character is fundementally flawed, marked by duplicity and insincerity - then in the long run he/she cannot be successfull.
Their duplicity will breed distrust and everything they do - even using so-called good Human relation techniques - will be perceived as manipulative. It simply makes no difference how good the rhetoric is or even how good the intentions are; if there is little or no trust, there is no foundation for permanent success. Only basic goodness gives life to "technique".
However we cannot altogether discard the elements of personality ethic - personality growth, communication skill training, and education in the field of influence strategies and positive thinking. They are sometimes essential for success. But one should realise that they are only secondary traits not primary traits.
In utilising the Human capacity to build on the foundation of generations before us, we have inadvertently become so focussed on our own building that we have happily forgotten the "foundation" that holds it up.
In most one-shot or short-lived Human Interactions, you can use the personality ethic to get by and to make favourable impressions through charm and skill and pretending to be interested in others hobbies. You can pickup quick, easy techniques that may work in short-term situations, But secondary traits alone have no permanent worth in long-term relationships.
Eventually if there isn't deep integrity and fundamental character strength, the challenges of life will cause the true motives to surface and human relationship failure will replace any short-term success.
In short what we are communicates far more eloquently than anything we say or do.

The Specs (?!) - Revisited !!!
Oflate I have been asked the same set of questions repeatedly. Questions like, "when are you getting married ? What kind of girl you would be comfortable with you ?. In other words, "whats the spec ?" (short form of specifications !)..
Just decided to sit down and write the specs.. I have been thinking about it for sometime. I thought I should put them down somewhere and freeze it for sometime. I know I can't freeze the specs forever as they tend to change from time to time. ;-)
hmm... To start with the "looks"... Height around 5.5 feet and weight around 60 kg (don't know whether its too high or too less !!!). Shouldn't be very fair.. (am very cautious here as I don't want to hear words like "i made a mistake in marrying this dark lean guy" at the later part of my life).. Long hair is prefered.. anyways it will get shorter and shorter thanks to different versions of shampoos and hair treatement available in the market..
Coming to the more important part of Specs.. the Functional Characteristics (?!)... She should be caring and love people around her unconditionally.. If nothing could be done to change the ways, she should "accept" people as they are, instead of developing a hatred against them. Should have respect for elders and treat them passionately. Should be a out-spoken, open-minded person who believes in expressing the emotions, conveying her thoughts, desires, preferences and goals... she should not be restraining herself for any reason..
She should be a career woman ... am I getting materialistic here ?... am I money-minded ?... No.. Not really... I just don't want to a draw a boundary and limit someone's freedom in the name of marriage. I do enjoy exploring the world and beyond. It would be mere injustice if I restrict her to the role of a home-maker and confine herself with the home.. With she being a career woman, I believe that the exposure level would be far better and that should help in setting higher goals in life and working towards them.
She should be able to handle things independently and should be able to take care of herself.. You might ask, "in that case, why the hell should she marry you ? If she has to take care of herself, why are you there ?". hmm.. Let me clarify.. I don't want to add another person in my "dependents" list through my marriage. I am looking for a life partner.. A partner in a true sense should be willing to work with me and share the accountability and responsibility for everything that need to done / can happen in life. I strongly believe that only a person who can do things "independently" and has the ability to take care of herself will be able to be my partner.
She should believe in living the life in the simplest way possible.. And be prepared to face the ups and downs in life (after all, Life is a full circle !!!) without complaining about the factors that are never under our control. should be willing to take risks, accept challenges with pride and passion.
hmmm.. am really tired of thinking... I need a break.. Let me read through what I had typed.. there are so many "be" s.. I can't help it though.. After all I am not demanding too much.. ;-)
Ohh.. am getting a call.. its from my Mom..
"Yes Mom.. tell me".. "ok.." "ok.." "ok.." "So you like the family and the girl?"..
"ok.." "ok.." "mom ! whatever you say.. am ok with it".. "mom ! your wish is my wish"..
Huuuuuuuhhhhh.. a long call it was.. Ohh... what I was doing.. hmm.. I was writing the "specs".. its all over now.. No point in continuing it any further.
Let me put a FULL STOP.
One week later.... an update. Again my Mom called me and said the Astromatch did not go well.... So.... am back... :-)
Will keep revisiting the Specs... So keep checking this space, if you are interested !!! ;-)
Btw.... feel free to inform me if you know someone who can meet the specs...
THANKS for your interest !

"Silence Must Be Heard" - Lyrics
ENIGMA LYRICS "Silence Must Be Heard"
Look into the others eyes, many frustrations
Read between the lines, no words just vibrations
Don't ignore hidden desires
Pay attention, you're playing with fire
Silence must be heard, noise should be observed
The time has come to learn, that silence ...
Silence must be heard
Or diamonds will burn, friendly cards will turn
Cause silence has the right to be heard
People talk too much for what they have to say
Words without a meaning, just fading away
Silence must be heard, noise should be observed
The time has come to learn, that silence ...
Silence must be heard
Or diamonds will burn, friendly cards will turn
Cause silence has the right to be heard

The Financial Ignorance !
In my career of five years, I had switched my job almost every year in the early period. There are many reasons. Having started my career in a start-up company, I could spend only a year there as it was shut down eventually. Before landing at the firm I am currently working with, I had to switch my job two more times. Though I have been sailing smoothly over the past two years in the current job, of late I have been bothered by the thoughts of uncertainty about my future.
The simple question is "how long I am going to work as a Software Engineer ?". Till 35 ? 40 ?. I don't think I can continue in this industry beyond 35. That means another 9 years. By then, all my skills might have become outdated and my enery levels would have come down for sure. But will I have enough assets to generate the money flow needed for the rest of my life. Definitely not If I just limit myself with the current job. I could understand that there is a obvious need to get in to other avenues, be it Business or Investments. My poor knowledge about these topics scares me a lot. I see myself in a very risky situation due to the lack of knowledge about these basic essentials in life.
Having been brought up in a family - background with more inclination towards Self-Business, I have a natural interest to start and run a business successfully. I feel its high time for me to proceed further with the baby steps without making excuses about the external factors that are never in my control.
Just last year, I started investing in Mutual funds/equities and I would be first person to admit that I did them blindly as suggested by my friends / Investment agents. Anyways I had just made a start. I should slowly start evaluating the real estate opportunities and try my hand there. I know there are many surprises waiting for me. I have decided to enjoy the fun.
In the past few months, I have been reading some good books... To name them, "The seven habits of highly effective people" by Steven Covey and "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and "Cashflow Quadrant" by Robert Kiyosaki. These books have sent a wakeup call to the stagnated dormant cells that once had the burning desire to chase my long standing dreams. Hope those cells will turn active and help me in exploring all the opportunities I could see.

Should I fall in Love ???
Of late I have been getting suggestions to find a person whom I can "fall" in love with. I often hear words like 'Love some one.. You are just 26.. Your caring attitude will attract girls easily.. You need not work hard to find someone close to your heart.. Your week ends will be more entertaining and more.. '.
I am not sure what makes people to offer such "suggestions" to a person like me. Having heard these words repeatedly I too once thought "Hmm... why not ? Should I give a try ?. Am I missing something in this world ? "..
But I am not a kind of person who can "wait" for someone for hours, "accept" all the excuses, present gifts very often (for no reason) and meet all those common & unrealistic expectations one has on the other when both are in the so called "Love". I do enjoy watching the "Love" being depicted in movies / novels though its more illusionary. I could not imagine myself telling someone that I am in love with her; can't survive without that person and more non-sense like them.
If at all I do that, my conscience would never allow me to digest my own words and the peace of mind would be lost forever with me asking more questions to myself. I strongly believe in being honest to myself.
In my dictionary, I see "Love" as a verb and not as a Noun. I simply don't agree with Love as a feeling. Love as a feeling is merely a illusion created by poets/writers. One can just read, watch and enjoy the feeling of Love as a means of mind relaxation. It doesn't have any practical significance. Its pathetic that many educated people often fail to realise this.
For me, Love is to serve people unconditionally.... i repeat "unconditionally"... showing genuine care and concern for those around me and make them feel more confident about themselves, leaving them to live their life the way they want; expecting "nothing" in return from them.
I have been observing people who often run in to relationship problems because of false expectations they have on each other. In the name of love/ friendship, people often try to dominate over each other, trying to dictate things that the other should/ shouldn't do. They often expect the other person to "understand" him/her and *change* his/her likes/dislikes to match her/him. Isn't a good relationship possible without the above stupid practices ?. Its becoming very rare to see a friendship / relationship where the people involved have respect for other's views and interests, allowing others to live their life the way they want.
Even in this information era with access to so much of books / magazines on better human relationships, its disgusting to see people being reluctant to learn about sustaining the relationships.
But there is always a battle between brain and the heart !!! Often people succumb to their emotions.

Stephen Covey's Seven Habits !
Few days back, I was reading "The Seven Habits of Most Effective People" by Stephen Covey. Soon I realised it needs a lot of inner strength to read the book as it exposes a person as he is. :-)
The quote I liked the most is "No one can hurt you without your consent" by Roosevelt.
How true this statement this !!!!!
On most occasions, its how we respond hurts us more than what that happens to us. And we always regret for the way we responded without giving much thought on its implications. I could see many continue to live with the problems just because they were not interested in understanding the actual root cause / reasons from where the problems arise. Mostly people just get satisfied with the temporary fixes for the problems.. The more we ignore to understand the problems, more would be the trouble we are inviting.. We often live with "escape" tendency celebrating short term successes with big treats by simply ignoring the past and the problems that kept haunting us. By continuing to do so, we loose the "peace of mind" and it becomes more and more difficult to gain it back...

My FIRST Blog !
Well... For the past few months, I have been going through a phase of thinking a lot on leadership and management, people relationships, its survival, the most common mistakes that detroy the relationships, etc..etc..
Dunno how it all started.. is this because I started living alone without any room mate ?
Or is it because I started caring for people around me, a lot (quite unnecessarily ?!).
Or something else ?? anyways nothing wrong in using the brain for better reasons !!!!
And I ended up speaking to myself looking at the mirror, sometimes at the wall.. ;-) Hence finally decided to start blogging where I can communicate with the whole world. :-)... discuss and share my thoughts, ask questions and do more. Atleast I would feel that someone is listening to me rather !!!
So keep looking for my posts and do pour in your thoughts.. Let us make the world a better place to live and add some meaning to our own lives !!!!
